SWIM LESSONS
The Sheridan County YMCA offers swim lessons for all ages. Swim lesson programs include parent-child swim classes, preschool swim lessons, school age swim lessons for all levels of swimmers. Private swim lessons are also offered and can be adapted to challenge all ages and levels. Participants will be placed in appropriate level swim class.

Ages 5-12
- Level 1 – Water Acclimation
Increase comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance. - Level 2 – Water Movement
Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently. - Level 3 – Water Stamina
Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages. - Level 4 – Stroke Introduction
Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and
elementary backstroke. - Level 5 – Stroke Development
Introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke.

PARENT CHILD
Ages 6 month – 3 years
This is your first opportunity to expose your infant or toddler to the wonderful world of water fun and safety. The focus for this class is to ensure your baby’s first swim experience is a positive one by guiding both the parent and the child in basic water orientation.
- Level A – Water Discovery
Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment. - Level B – Water Exploration
Focuses on exploring body positions, blowing bubbles and fundamental safety and aquatic skills.
