It is well documented that individuals, families, neighborhoods and communities benefit greatly from the Y’s more traditional programs in sports, aquatics and health and well-being.  We also believe that it is the Y’s social responsibility to think and act more broadly, using our considerable human, physical, fiscal and political resources to help address a wide spectrum of human needs and issues such as hunger, homelessness, lack of access to essential services, delinquency, substance abuse, depression and suicide.

The Y can effectively address issues such as these by initiating our own programs, collaborating with other entities to develop and implement initiatives, supporting and presenting training and seminars, facilitating multi-agency efforts and serving on boards and task forces.
