YMCA
Summer Camps
A great,
fun way for your child to
make friends, build new skills, and grow in self-esteem.
|
|
Registration
for members begins April
4th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. To take advantage of member fee and
early sign-up,
campers
must be members from time of sign up through their camping
weeks.
Community members can register starting April 20th.
It has
been our experience that because
of late cancellations many youth have missed opportunities to
experience
YMCA Camp. For this reason, we require a deposit of $20 for
each
session to be paid at the time of registration.
-
This deposit
is NON-REFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE.
-
Remaining
balance to be paid NO LATER than
2 weeks prior to camp.
Note:
Individual campers can sign up
for only two weeks of Day Camp or Adventure Club until May
19. At
that time, campers can check to see if openings are still
available
in other camp weeks. This will allow more youth the
opportunity to
experience YMCA summer camp!
Download and print out the Camper Information Sheet and bring
it with you already filled out when you sign up.

“Camper”
Ships
The Sheridan
County
YMCA
is dedicated to serving youth regardless
of economic hardships. Our “Camper” ship program
offers the opportunity for partial or total fee waiver to children who
otherwise would be unable to participate in a Y Camp Program.
Please pick
up or download
and
return
a “Camper”
ship form
at
the
Front
Desk.
Our Camp Directors
will then be in contact with you in consideration of awarding your
child a camp scholarship.

YMCA
of the Bighorns is nestled along the base of the beautiful Bighorn
Mountains. It is approximately 45 minutes from the front door
of
the Sheridan County YMCA. Lakes, streams, forest, beautiful
mountain peaks, scenery, and abundant wildlife all provides an
incredible playground for our campers.
A summer at YMCA of the
Bighorns is a life-shaping experience that
encourages a spirit of exploration and adventure. Our staff
strive to create a safe environment while each part of camp life is
designed to promote the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect
and responsibility. While providing several traditional
activities such as canoeing, hiking, and fishing, we also provide a
balance of outdoor education, fun, challenge, responsibility and
adventure that define campers’ lives.
We encourage you to take a minute and see the great additions to
our camp programs that YMCA of the Bighorns will provide. (Return

Youth
Resident Camp
Youth
will arrive Sunday afternoon and depart Thursday afternoon.
Parents and families are encouraged to bring campers on Sunday and
assist them in becoming familiar with the camp, meeting camp staff, and
getting settled in. YMCA transportation will also be
available to
deliver campers to YMCA of the Bighorns. Resident Camp week
will
conclude at the Sheridan County YMCA with transportation provided.
All
camps are
gender specific with a maximum enrollment of 20. Campers gain
independence as they spend five days and four nights away from home in
an atmosphere committed to building healthy youth. Campers
learn
responsibility as they take care of themselves and their belongings
(with proper guidance), and gain respect
for others as they share a living space with fellow campers.
Campers learn to live the core values of the YMCA: CARING,
HONESTY, RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY, in terms of themselves, others,
and for the environment.

Thunderbird
Leadership Course
Ages 13
- 15
Leadership
skills are a
life-long quality. Thunderbird
Leadership Course incorporates activities that promote leadership
development, outdoor adventure,
service to
community, teamwork, nature appreciation, and personal
growth. TLCers help with supervision of campers,
lead small group activities and learn how to be part of a staff
team. Each day provides new opportunities and new
challenges. It is staffed by excellent
counselors who
ensure that each participant has a first rate experience.
TLC’ers learn and practice
outdoor and leadership skills throughout the week with hands on
experience.
The
TLC program requires a personal commitment to a staff
training session and two to three weeks of Day Camp or
Adventure Club. You
can apply by picking up an
application at the YMCA Front Desk. A Camp Director will then
be in
touch with you. Apply by May 18th. (Return
