About Desiree

Title: Senior Director of Operations & Membership

Years at the Y: 11

Favorite thing about working at the Sheridan YMCA: The Y is such a special and terrific place to work because there is so much variety every day in the job we do and the people we meet. Regardless of the role I am in, I find fulfillment in being able to serve our community and feel so fortunate to get the opportunity to work in such a fruitful environment with so many amazing people.

What I’m doing when I’m not working: I love to spend as much free time as possible with my family and friends. Whether I’m with someone or flying solo, I love to be active and you can often find me in the weight room, even on vacation. If I’m not in the gym, you can find me riding bikes, hiking, camping, paddleboarding/kayaking, or traveling.

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: What do you love about the (Sheridan) YMCA?
I have loved working at the Y so far! I come from 20 years in public education as a high school business teacher and 10 years working as an accountant. I love that the Y brings all of those things together for me! I get to work with numbers and people! Giving back to the community has always played a big part in my life.

When I’m not working: I enjoy spending time in the mountains and going on road trips. Whenever I can, I spend time with my adult children.

Title: Senior Director of Human Resources & Culture

Years worked at the Y:On & Off 21 years

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: I love my current role as Sr. Director of Human Resources & Culture because it gives me an opportunity to be a part of our employee’s lives. I get to help them grow in their careers & strengthen the Y Culture throughout the organization with positive intent. I love being a part of a team with vision for the greater good. I grew up at the Sheridan County YMCA and all 4 of my children were raised here, now my grandkids are coming to the Y as well. I love that we offer everything from music classes to fitness, childcare to swim lessons and camps. The Y is a never-ending resource for our community’s needs.

When I’m not working: I spend the majority of my free-time with my family. I love to be outdoors. My favorite outdoor sports are: paddleboarding & kayaking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. I also love digging in the dirt. I enjoy gardening; mostly flowers, but I have a dream to someday own a large, heated greenhouse to grow food and flowers year-round. I enjoy singing, dancing and being on stage in musical theater productions. Last but not least-I love to cook and bake.

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: I thoroughly enjoy working alongside people to plan and achieve their goals. Assisting others in building and achieving their dreams and vision brings me fulfillment in many aspects, whether personal or professional. Title: Child Care Program Director

Years worked at the Y: 3

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA:

I love being around and interacting  with all the kids. They give the best hugs and the cutest hellos in the morning along with their smiles. What a community the Y has here in Sheridan. The facility itself is amazing and has something to offer for everyone. The YMCA childcare is such an awesome program and offers so much to our Y kids, from swimming to available gyms, sports and an awesome new playland. I myself have never been a part of such a great program like ours!

When I’m not working:

I enjoy traveling with my family all over wherever soccer calls us to play and any extra sports they pick up. Visiting my family in Texas and watching my Cowboys during the football season. Hiking, boating, fishing, church, family and porch sitting on a gorgeous day.

About Sandy

Title: Membership Director

Years worked at the Y: 34

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: I grew up in the 60’s being an active kid at the Sheridan County YMCA – that is when my “real” relationship with the Y began.

What do you call an old dog learning new tricks? ME!  I feel blessed to have spent time in almost every area of the Y – currently in Member Service.  It is very humbling to watch youth that I’ve been fortunate to share time at the Y with begin their careers and see their families relationships with the Y develop and grow.  Having connections that date well over 30 years is a true privilege and fills me with a lifetime of memories. Every day something I do or see reminds me that I am part of something wonderful.

When I’m not working: Being a grandmother of 8 and a great-grandmother of 1 keeps me busy.  There’s lots of family time playing games/cards, camping, riding four-wheelers, sporting events and just hanging out. My daughter and her family have lived in Australia for over 20 years.  I enjoy yearly visits  and spending as much time as possible with them.

About Kim

Title: Sports Director

Years worked at the Y: 1

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: I love being able to watch a lot of “firsts!”  When a child scores a goal in soccer, makes a shot in basketball, or catches a baseball for the first time, the happiness and feeling of pride is sometimes overwhelming. I am very blessed to have this opportunity at the Y that allows me to be close to my own children, whether it be in the daycare or the after school program. Additionally, the members and co-workers make the Sheridan YMCA a wonderful place to work

When I’m not working: I love spending time with my family playing games and watching movies, and being out and about….exploring Sheridan, the surrounding areas, and more.  I have a love for sports, especially baseball, cooking, fishing, camping, and the beautiful Big Horn mountains.  Really, anything that has to do with pine trees is right up my alley!
