mountain peaks, scenery and abundant wildlife all provides an
incredible playground for our campers.A
summer at YMCA of the Bighorns is a life-shaping experience that
encourages a spirit of exploration and adventure. Our staff
strive to create a safe environment while each part of camp life is
designed to promote the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect
and responsibility. While providing several traditional
activities such as canoeing, hiking and fishing, we also provide a
balance of outdoor education, fun, challenge, responsibility and
adventure that define campers’ lives.We
encourage you to take a minute and see the great additions to our camp
programs that YMCA of the Bighorns will provide. We think you’ll
find a little something for everyone.

YMCA of the Bighorns Camp Roberts
In
honor and recognition of Ermal M. and Donald H. Roberts, we are pleased
to dedicate YMCA of the Bighorns Camp Roberts. A tradition of the
Sheridan County YMCA has been shown in the hearts of the Roberts
family. They displayed a strong commitment to provide a safe
place for kids where they could participate in social, recreational,
and educational activities that promoted self-esteem and values.
Ermal and Don would be pleased to know that for many years to
come youth and families will find joy and friendship at YMCA of the
Bighorns Camp Roberts.History
The
Sheridan County YMCA purchased the former Pines Lodge in February
2008 for development into a year-round resident camp that will serve
the entire region. The summer of 2008 was spent adding a new bathhouse, upgrading and winterizing the water and sewer
system, new windows, doors, and roofs on all existing cabins and general
maintenance. There was also an addition of two RV/camp
sites. “Tradition and Vision...The Trail Ahead”, a
campaign to assure the future of “YMCA of the Bighorns”, is on track
for 2010. Individuals, families, businesses, or foundations can be
remembered or honored through their generosity to this
campaign. The “YMCA of the Bighorns” fully
understands the responsibility of stewardship to the land and forest,
as well as program and facility needs for future development.
All
activities conducted at YMCA of the Bighorns must be consistent with
our mission of: “To put Christian principles into practice
through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.”
All
user groups / individuals will adhere to YMCA of the Bighorns
restrictions. These restrictions
forbid pets, firearms, alcohol, and fireworks.
Our Values
Through
everything we do, we seek to model and use the values of CARING,
HONESTY, RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. In so doing we help build
strong kids, strong families, strong communities. |
